Abstract
This study was carried out to investigate the current
bacterial isolates from blood culture of 1143 cases, from August Ist. 1974 to August 24th. 1976 in Han Yang University Hospital.
The results are as follows. 1 . Among 1143, 165 Cases(14.4%) gave postive bacterial growth.
2. In age- incidence, under 10year old age group was the highest. (44 cases), 30 to 39 agr group(23.9)and 20 to 29 age group (17.6) ,came text.
3. Incidence of male was sligl tly higher than female (1.2 1).
4. Salmonella group D was yielded iighestly (58. 8%), Staph. aureus was 19(11.5%), Staph. albus,. 15(9.1%) E. coli was 14(8.5%), d Salmonella group A was 8(4.8%).
5. Seasonally, 42(25%) and 44(279+) cases were isolated in July through August.
6. The susceptibility rate of Salmonella to Ampicillins up was to 93%, but to Chloramphenicol, it was: 47.2%. It suggests that Salmonella is gradually becoming resistant to Chloramphenicol which has been. the first choice of antibiotics to Salmonellosis. And. that of Staph. albus to Cloxac;llin was 93.3%. E.coli to Gentamicin was 85.7%.
7. Underlying disieases lately discovered wereTyphoid fever,108(65.5%), Pneumonia, 11(6.7%), Cho lecystitis, 9(5.9%), Meningitis, 5(3%) and: Pyelonephritis, 4(2.4%), serially.
